Prioritizing Safety in Our Steel Framing Factory at CFS
At Centurion Framing Systems safety isn’t just a priority—it’s ingrained in every aspect of our operations. With a bustling steel framing factory that relies on precision and efficiency, ensuring a safe working environment for our team is paramount. Here’s a look at some of the critical safety measures we have in place to protect our people and maintain a seamless workflow.
Crane Safety
One of the most significant safety concerns in our factory is crane operation. With multiple cranes in use, it’s imperative that all operators are not only well-trained but also adhere strictly to safety protocols. Every crane operates at Centurion Framing Systems has complete comprehensive crane training course. Ensuring they understand the intricacies and risks involved. Every member working on the factory floor must adhere to the following: Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including high-visibility clothing, hard hats, ear protection, steel cap boots, glasses and gloves. These precautions are essential to minimising the risk of accidents and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our cranes.
Thoughtful Factory Design for steel framing
Our factory layout is designed with safety at its core. One standout feature is our drive-through truck loading bay. Located at one end of the factory, this design allows trucks to load and unload steel framing materials safely, away from the more heavily trafficked areas. This separation not only facilitates smoother operations but also ensures that forklifts and other vehicles can move around safely without the risk of crossing paths with trucks, reducing the chances of accidents.
Advanced Roll forming Safety
In our roll forming operations, safety is our top priority. Our Enduro roll formers for steel framing are equipped with industry-leading safety features designed to protect our team. These machines have interlocks that automatically halt operation if the machine is opened while in use. The same safety measures apply to the cages around the decoilers—if accessed during operation, everything stops immediately. Additionally, each machine is equipped with emergency stops, both on the machine itself and on a remote control, providing multiple layers of safety to prevent accidents. Some of our roll formers are also fitted with light curtains that stop the machine’s operation if tripped. For added security, our automated machines are equipped with backup safety mechanisms, such as safety ropes, in case the light curtain fails.
Safe Truss Movement with the Flying Fox
Another innovative safety feature in our factory is the use of the Flying Fox, a system designed to carry roof trusses from one end of the factory to the other. By limiting truss movement to one dedicated section, we reduce the risk of accidents in other areas of the factory. This system not only enhances safety but also helps prevent back injuries among our workers by minimizing the need for manual handling of the trusses.
Continuous Safety Education
At Centurion Framing Systems, we believe that safety is a continuous learning process. Regular toolbox meetings are held to keep safety top of mind, where our team discusses potential hazards and reviews safety protocols. Additionally, we ensure that everyone watches safety videos regularly, providing refreshers on best practices and new safety measures. This ongoing education helps our team stay vigilant and aware of the risks in their daily tasks.
Basic Safety Essentials
Of course, no safety protocol would be complete without the basics. We enforce strict adherence to wearing the proper uniform, PPE, high-visibility clothing, ear protection and steel cap boots throughout the factory. These standard precautions are essential in minimizing risk and protecting our workers from potential hazards.
At Centurion Framing Systems, we are committed to creating a safe and secure workplace for all our employees. By investing in advanced safety features, thoughtful factory design, and continuous education, we ensure that every member of our team can perform their job with confidence, knowing that their well-being is our top priority.
